If you want to bring your home to the next level, try turning your backyard into the heart of your home. And if you have a septic tank in your backyard, worry not! As your septic services experts, here at Jones Septic, we’re keen on sharing the best practices when it comes to septic system management and maintenance to ensure your safety and your family’s.
Having a backyard can add great curb appeal and enhance the value of your home. But most septic tank homeowners feel conscious about creating spaces in their backyards to host friends and family. That shouldn’t be the case.
It is true that some deep-rooted trees, plants, and bushes must not go over your drainfield and other areas of your septic system because it may cause harm to certain parts of the system. The same principle applies when it comes to driveways and parking spaces that should never be on top of your septic system to prevent damage to any parts of it.
You can still landscape the backyard with beautiful bushes that are not deep-rooted and arrange a lounge and dining space with lightweight furniture. You can place a fire pit nearby with some sitting space for burning marshmallows and add a grill for Sunday afternoons.
Adding theme decorations to your backyard can also add up a special effect; Tiki torches, and paper lamps, amongst others, can make your backyard come to life at night. If you would rather have something more permanent, think of adding a trellis or a pergola and decorating it with flowers and string lights.
You can also make your backyard more vibrant by adding some hanging flowers and bushes or by creating a walking path with gravel or rocks. But remember, it works as long as you keep it away from the drainfield.
